Studying at the Institute of Historical Science

History is a multifaceted and diverse subject that offers exciting insights into different epochs, regions and cultures. Studying history means curiously and critically following the traces of the past, classifying and interpreting them. The study programme enables students to deal with the past independently and to examine the development of humans as social and acting beings in the course of time.

The IGW offers 6 study combinations in the B.A. and M.A. fields as well as the PhD. On this page you will find information about the study options as well as further information about the study programme.

Please note: All subjects are taught in German! To study history at the University of Bonn, applicants who do not hold a university entrance qualification from a German or German-language school must prove sufficient knowledge of German.
